The Government of Japan, through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Programme, extended its assistance to the South African National Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted Persons (SANABP). The grant was to the amount of US$ 69, 949 (R499,745.00), for the purchase of a Braille Printing Machine in order to promote Braille as a medium of communication and to help restore human dignity to blind and partially sighted people.

The handover ceremony took place on May 27, 2009 at 11:00 am with the attendance of His Excellency Mr. Toshiro Ozawa, Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Pitsi Moloto the Limpopo Province MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism and Mr. Selaelo Makgato, President of the South African National Association of Blind and Partially Sighted Persons.
