2019/3/29

On March 26th, 2019, with the blessings of Hon. Ms. Naledi Pandor, Minister of Higher Education and Training and H.E. Mr. Norio Maruyama, the Project for Capacity Development of Pilot TVET Colleges for Artisans was launched at Wingfield Campus of Nothlink TVET College in Cape Town.

This technical cooperation project has been implemented at Northlink TVET College and Tshwane South TVET Colleges, the two Centers for Specialization on Fitter and Turner and for enhancing lecturers’ ability to teach as well as developing training materials. This project also aims to strengthen the colleges’ employment support for students.
South Africa’s National Development Plan has set a target to producing 30,000 artisans per year. The project will contribute to meet the target as well as improving the unemployment situation in South Africa, especially among the youth.
