Online visa application
※short-term visa with a Tourism Purpose (for a stay of 90 days or less) (single-entry)
This is solely for tourist purposes (If your intentions includes visiting acquaintances/ relatives or business/academic activities, you are not eligible to apply for an online Evisa).
Those who fall under the Eligible Applicants below are able to apply for a short-term stay visa for the purpose of Tourism on JAPAN eVISA website from March 27, 2023.
Eligible Applicants
All foreign nationals/people who reside in the following countries/region.
Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, U.S.A. (Only foreign nationals/people who are required to obtain short-term visa.)
(Applicants are required to log-in to the JAPAN eVisa website and display “Visa issuance notice” at the departure airport under the Internet environment. PDF data, screenshot or printout of the page will not be accepted.)
Types of visa
Short –Term Stay visa for the purpose of Tourism (for a stay of 90 days or less)
If you meet the criteria above, please apply online for a visa on the JAPAN eVISA website.
For those other than above, please apply for visa at the Japanese Embassy, Consulate General or Consular office in your country/region of residence. (If there is more than one, apply at the Japanese Embassy, Consulate General nearest from where you live. For Taiwan, Taipei / Kaohsiung offices of Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association)

1.Please beware of fraud websites looking alike the JAPAN eVISA website.
2.If your application is incomplete, we will cancel it without processing. Once cancelled, you should make a new application and submit it again.

Entering incorrect information and/or uploading the required documents inadequately could lead to a delay of examination or cancellation of your eVISA application, which may affect your travel plans.

Criteria of Visa Insurance
Application for Visa for foreign nationals eligible for Phased Measures toward Resuming Cross-Border Travel
・A Japanese visa may be issued to an applicant, when he/she meets all of the following requirements and if the issuance is considered to be appropriate.
The applicant possesses a valid passport and is entitled to re-entry to a country of his/her nationality or a country of his/her residence
All submitted documents are authentic, completed and satisfactory.
The activities to be engaged in Japan/the civil status or the position of the applicant/the period of stay meet the requirements for the status of residence and the period of stay stipulated in the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act. (Cabinet Order No.319 of 1951. hereinafter referred to as the “Immigration Control Act”.
The applicant does not fall under any of the items of Article 5, Paragraph 1 of the Immigration Control Act.
・A Japanese visa may be issued to an applicant, when he/she meets all of the following requirements and if the issuance is considered to be appropriate.
